Jose Machado, 63, Bristol

Jose “George” Machado, 63, of St. Elizabeth Street, passed away on May 15, 2017 at Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center.    

Born in Rabo de Peixe, St. Michael, Azores, he was the son of Belmira (Andrade) Machado and the late Mariano Tavares Machado. He was the father of Amanda Sousa and the late Justin Machado; grandfather of Logan Sousa and Milani Sousa; and brother of Maria Germano, Laudelina Cabral and Adelino Machado. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, and grand nieces and nephews.

Mr. Machado was educated in Bristol and employed by the Bristol Warren Regional School District as a custodian. He was a member of the Bristol Sports Club, Lincoln Club and Giant Runt Pigeon Club of North America. He also enjoyed playing pool and fishing. 

His funeral services will be held Friday, May 26, 10 a.m., from the George Lima Funeral Home, 367 High St., with a Mass of Christian Burial, 11 a.m., at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood St. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bristol.

Calling hours are Thursday, May 25th, 4-7 p.m.
