Jonathan S. Ernest, 57, Warren

Jonathan S. Ernest, 57, a long-time resident of Warren, died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013, in Plainfield, Ct. He leaves his beloved wife, Pamela (McPeak) Ernest.
Born in Providence, a son of Madeline (Medeiros) Ernest of Warren and the late Jim Tom Ernest, he graduated from the Swain School of Design in New Bedford. He was co-owner and operator of the Welcome Home Retirement Residence in Pascoag. Prior to his illness he worked at Mohegan Sun. Jonathan enjoyed time with mom, football, road trips, car shows and restoring antique cars. He loved his dogs and was surrounded by them when he passed.
He also leaves his daughter, Ashley Ernest; a sister, Pamela (Ernest) Krawczyk and her husband Michael of Warren; his brother, James Ernest of Warren; and nephew Kevin Krawczyk.
Arrangements are with Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren where family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, with a funeral service starting at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
