John L. Machado 61, Warren

John Luis Machado, 61, of Buffalo Avenue, passed away Monday, April 8, 2013, at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the husband of Maria Filomena (Vieira) Machado.

Born in Rabo do Peixe, Sao Miguel, Acores, he was the son of the late Jose Tavares Machado and Alzira Leandro (Faria) Machado. He was the father of Nelia Rodrigues of Bristol and John, Jennifer and Derek Machado, all of Warren; the grandfather of Alexa, Keiana, Karissa, Tristan and Olivia; and the brother of Joe Machado, Beatrice Dias, George Machado, Mariano Machado, Peter Machado and Tony Machado.

Mr. Machado attended Bristol High School and was employed as a boat builder for Shannon Yachts for 15 years, and Blue Fin Boats for seven years.

Funeral services were held Friday, April 12, from the George Lima Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian burial celebrated by Rev. Luis Garcia Dutra in St. Elizabeth Church. The offertory gifts were presented by Nelia Rodrigues, John Machado Jr. and Derek Machado, and the eulogy was given by Laura Machado. Burial followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery, where George Machado, Mariano Machado, Peter Machado, Tony Machado, Kyle Rodrigues and John Dias served as pallbearers.
