John J. Pasqual, Jr., age 72, of Bristol


Mr. John J. Pasqual, Jr., age 72 of 23 Greylock Road, Bristol, died peacefully Monday, November 26, 2012 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.  He was the husband of Gloria E. (Santos) Pasqual, his wife of 54 years.   Born in Bristol and a lifelong resident, he was a son of the late John J. and Mary T. (Mascena) Pasqual.

John was a graduate of Colt Memorial High School, Bristol, Class of 1958, and attended both Rhode Island College and Providence College.  John served in the US Army and then the Army Reserves for several years and his unit was activated during the Cuban Missile Crisis before his discharge in 1965.

John was the Wire and Cable Sales Manager for Tyco, Inc. in New Bedford for several years until his retirement.  He had previously worked for Alfex Wire and Cable Co. in California, Carol Cable in Pawtucket and United States Steel Co., in Cleveland.  He was an active communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Bristol, and he and his wife, Gloria accepted the highest honor of the parish in 2007 being named Chief Marshals of the 16th of July Celebration in honor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. John enjoyed wine making, golfing, boating, gardening and having outings and traveling with his family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, John J. Pasqual, III and his wife, Sherry, Jane M. Glass and her husband, Richard, all of Bristol, Joseph D. Pasqual and his wife Laurie of Manchester, NH, Mary E. Gerhard and her husband Carl, two brothers, Manuel and Thomas A. Pasqual, all of Bristol, nine grandchildren, Joseph D. Pasqual, 2nd, Joshua J., Elizabeth H., and Daniel J. Pasqual, Carl J., John A. and Mary G. Gerhard, Leeana and John Nito.

Funeral Services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Friday, November 30, 2012 at 9 a.m. with a Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State Street, Bristol.  Burial will be private.  Visiting hours, Thursday, November 29, 2012 from 4 p.m. to  8 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State Street, Bristol, RI  02809.  For online condolences, shared memories, information and direction go to

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far.
