Jennie Forgette, 92, Westport

Jennie (Pontes) Forgette, 92, of Westport, passed away on Friday, August 1, 2014, at Kindred Transitional Care & Rehabilitation-Highlander in Fall River. She was the wife of the late William Forgette and former wife of the late Edward J. O’Hara.

Born in Fall River, daughter of the late Antone and Mary (Ventura) Pontes, she had resided in Westport for most of her life. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a spinner for various mills in the area.

Mrs. Forgette was a group leader on many trips to the casinos and various vacation destinations for Our Lady of Grace Church in Westport, president of the Our Lady of Grace Senior’s Club and vice-president of the Our Lady of Grace Women’s Guild.

Survivors include her son, Edward J. O’Hara and his wife Evelyn of Westport; her grandson, Kevin O’Hara and his wife Jennifer; and two great grandchildren, Ariana and Logan.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
