Jean A. MacKay, 66, Riverside


Jean A. MacKay, 66, of Sprague Avenue, Riverside, died peacefully on August 28, 2013 surrounded by her loving family.  She was the beloved wife of Donald J. MacKay.

Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Wilfred Williams and Dorothy (Fields) Andrade, she lived in Riverside for 44 years.  Jean enjoyed boating, reading and skiing.

Besides her husband of 46 years, she is survived by two sons; Donald MacKay of Riverside and David MacKay and his wife Amy of Riverside, a granddaughter; Nicole, two grandsons; David and Daniel and three sisters; Pearl Giammaro and Dorothy Catlow, both of Palm Bay, FL and Joanne Kozlin of West Warwick.  She was the sister of the late Wilfred Williams Jr., Charles Williams and Shirley Catlow.

Calling hours will be held in the W. Raymond Watson Funeral Home, 350 Willett Ave., Riverside on Saturday, Aug. 31. Burial will be private.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
