Jay Peter Metz, 75, of N. Ft. Myers, Fla., died on Friday, Sept. 21, 2012.

Pete was born on April 25, 1937 in RI, the son of Barbara J. (Gilbert), now in Plattsburgh, NY and the late Walker A. Metz. He was raised and went to the schools in Barrington, and was a member of the Barrington High School class of 1956.

Pete is survived by his children, Jay Peter Metz Jr. of Warwick, Barbara J. Metz-Barron of Warwick, Michael E. Metz of Warwick, George E. Metz of N. Fort Myers, Norman E. Metz of Johnston, and the late John Paul Metz; his brother, Richard W. Metz of Barrington, and his sisters, Marilyn Acker of Plattsburgh, NY, and Roberta McCusker, of Dalton, NH. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.

Pete owned and operated several service stations in Niantic and Planfield, Conn. until his retirement. He moved shortly after that to the warmer climate of N. Ft. Myers, where he resided until his passing.

There will be a graveside memorial service at 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 26 at Swan Point Cemetery in Providence.
