Jane M. Geleney, 58, Riverside

Jane M. Geleney, (Aldrich), 58, of Maple Avenue, Riverside, died unexpectedly at home on Dec. 8, 2012.  She was the beloved wife of Robert S. Geleney. A lifelong resident of Riverside, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Julia Anna (Murphy) Aldrich. Besides her husband of 39 years, she is survived by two sons; First Sergeant Jared R. Geleney of Clarksville, TN and Robert S. Geleney of Providence, her brothers and sisters; Julie A. Silva, Susan F. Palumbo, Mary R. Souza and Richard E. Aldrich, all of Riverside and Ellen T. Ordway of Scituate, three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours in the W. Raymond Watson Funeral Home, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside on Thursday, Dec. 13, from 5 to 8 p.m.  Flowers are respectfully omitted. Burial will be private. A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
