Jane Lavey, 92, Warren


Jane Lavey, 92, of Warren, died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, at the Warren Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Warren.

Born in Warren, a daughter of the late Alfred and Marguerite (Landry) Sampson, she was employed as a seamstress by SE Raines and was a member of St. Jean-Baptiste Church.

She was the loving mother of Raymond Lavey Jr. of Bristol, Gary A. Lavey of Barrington and Nancy J. Lavey of Warren; she also leaves five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by nine brothers and six sisters.

Arrangements are with Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren, where the family will receive friends at 9 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 27. A Mass of Christian burial follows at 10 a. .in St. Jean Baptiste Mission Church, Main Street, Warren.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once.
