J. Anne Mitchell, 83, of Smith Street, a Riverside resident for 61 years, died peacefully on November 16, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Rex Mitchell.
Born in Providence, daughter of the late James and Josephine Pearl (McCloud) Holmes, she was an assistant credit manager for 30 years at Ballou Manufacturing retiring in 2005. She was a communicant and an active member at St. Brendan’s Church where she was a president of St. Vincent de Paul and parish council, CCD teacher, volunteer for S.P.R.E.A.D., Giving Tree and Eucharistic Minister at R.I. Hospital. She was a president of the Platt-Waters and East Providence High School PTAs, Brownie/Jr. Girl Scout Leader, Volunteer for V.S.A., Meals on Wheels, and member of Forever Young Club and Daughters of Isabella.
She is survived by her children: JoAnne, Michael, Kathleen, Jeannie (Bonnie) all of Riverside, John (Corinne) of Warwick, James of East Providence; grandchildren: Tracy, Joshua, Alana, Dana and Lee; and great-grandchildren- Kaylee, Cascis and Johnathan.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held November 21 at St. Brendan’s Church. In lieu of flowers donations to St. Vincent de Paul Society, 60 Turner Ave., Riverside, RI, 02915, would be appreciated.
