Hugh Cole School Fair is Saturday, March 23

The Hugh Cole School holds its Community Spring Fair next Saturday, March 23, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Activities will be in the gym and cafeteria, and admission is free (bring non-perishable foods if you can).

The annual fair is a day of games, raffles, food and vendors. Paws, the Pawtucket Red Sox mascot, will be there at 10 a.m., and dancers with the Just Dance! school will give demonstrations. There will also be an inflatable obstacle course and the Boy Scouts pinewood derby race track.

Vendors on hand for the day include Wildtree, Kelly's Kupcakes, The Pampered Chef, Avon, Hand Bags, Legal Sheild, Just Dance! handmade jewelry, knitted items, crafts and florals, Usborne Books, handmade items for little girls, Silpada, Beautycounter, Pink Zebra, Tupperware and Tastefully Simple.

There will be more than 35 prizes donated, and a special raffle for American Girl and Alex and Ani items.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
