Two dozen homes in Barrington sold for more than $1 million last year.

According to Barrington Tax Assessor Michael Minardi, the town recorded 24 million-dollar-plus home sales in 2018.

"It was a pretty good year," said Mr. Minardi, adding "It wasn't the best year. The two prior years there was more volume."

Mr. Minardi said that while there were more million-dollar-plus home sales in 2016 and 2017, the value of the homes sold in 2018 was greater. That trend has continued for the entire real estate market in Barrington.

"The volume is down, but the value is up," he said. "Up, up, up."

According to Mr. Minardi, the median sale price in Barrington for 2018 was $475,000. That is up from $427,000 in 2017 and $385,000 in 2016. During that same period of time, the number of home sales in Barrington decreased — there were 291 sales in 2018, 337 in 2017, and 303 in 2016.

Home locations

The million-dollar-plus home sales for 2018 are spread all across town.

There are four sales on Appian Way, six are on Rumstick, and two are on Ferry Lane and South Meadow Lane each.

Many of the high-end sales are for waterfront homes or located within walking distance to the water. Six of the 24 homes also have pools.

The most expensive home sale was for $3,250,000 and was shared by two separate properties on Rumstick Road — one at 266 Rumstick and the other at 306 Rumstick.
