Hilda Martel, 89, Westport

Hilda (Martin) Martel, 89, of Westport, passed away on Friday, June 28, 2013 at home. She was the wife of the late Raymond J. Martel.

Born in Fall River, daughter of the late Antone and Clara (Nunes) Martin, she had resided in Westport since 1950.

Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Martel worked as a secretary to the Board of Selectmen for the Town of Westport and also as a realtor. She was a notary public, communicant of St. George Church, Westport, and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include her son, Ronald P. Martel of El Cerrito, Calif.; her daughter, Arlene R. Martel of Westport; and her two nieces, Joan Lusk and Sandra Dixon.

She was the sister of the late Margaret Medeiros and Olive Machado.

A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Potter Funeral Home, Westport.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986.
