Help celebrate Earth Day by cleaning Bristol

On Saturday, Apr. 20, volunteers will spread out throughout town for “Keep Bristol Clean 2013,” marking over 25 years of Earth Day clean-ups.

Volunteers are needed to scour the various locations throughout town to pick up litter, sweep, rake and clear public areas of debris.

Participants are asked to meet at the Department of Public Works headquarters, 111 Mt. Hope Ave. Coffee and doughnuts will be served from 9 to 9:30 a.m., with the clean up continuing through noon. For more information, contact Robert Holt or Carol Mello at 253-4100.

Meet our staff
Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
