Helen (Tavares) St. George, 89, Bristol


Helen (Tavares) St. George, age 89, of Gorham Place, died Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013 at the Silver Creek Manor Nursing Home in Bristol with her family by her side.

She was the wife of the late Joseph A. St. George.

Born in Bristol, and a lifelong resident, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Laura (Rosa) Tavares.

Helen was a bookkeeper for the family business King & St. George Electrical Contractors for 30 years, retiring in 1991.

She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.

Helen also loved her trips to Foxwoods.

Helen is survived by her children, Thomas A. St. George (Ana) of Bristol and Gail Ann Calouro (John) of Kennisaw, Ga.; three grandchildren, Jeffrey M. Calouro, Melissa Ann Pacheco and Kelsey St. George; and a great-grandson, Jensen M. Calouro.

Besides her husband and parents she was preceded in death by two brothers Joseph and George Tavares.

Her funeral service will be held on Friday, Sept. 27, at 9 a.m. at the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood St. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 120. Burial will be in the North Burial Ground on Hope Street.

Visiting hours will be Thursday, Sept. 26, from 4 - 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 141 State St., Bristol, RI 02809.
