Harold A. Dennis, 93, of Bristol, passed away peacefully at the home of his daughter, Jayne Dennis, and son-in-law, Jeffrey Skillings. He was the loving husband of the late Doris C. Dennis. Born in Bristol, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (King) Dennis.

Harold was a proud World War II veteran, an aviation cadet in the Army Air Corps.

Harold was the successful founder and owner of Dennis Machine Co. in Bristol for many years. He gave many people the opportunity to develop and advance in their chosen trade.

Harold loved to travel and visited many countries throughout his lifetime. He and his wife Doris shared a passion for exploring new places.

In addition to his daughter Jayne and her husband Jeffrey, Harold is survived his daughters, Janice Vorro, formerly of Bristol, and Cynthia Perry and her husband William of Murrells Inlet, S.C. Harold is also survived by seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christion Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Oct. 21, at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Church, East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be private at the Veterans’ Cemetery in Exeter, RI. For information and condolences, visit memorialfuneralhome.com.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
