Gone for years, weakfish are back in the bay

Posted

It's been years since squeteague, commonly known as weakfish, have been found in measurable numbers in Narragansett Bay. But reports are that they're back. Sophia Parker, 17, a junior at Barrington High School, went fishing with her father Matt before school last Friday morning and caught seven squeteague just south of Poppasquash Point in Bristol. The fish were all healthy, reports Mr. Parker, and weighed from about six to nine and a half pounds.
