Girls' track team members compete in Boston

Five Mt. Hope girls' track team members competed at the new England championships this past Saturday, March 2 at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston. Karina Tavares finished off a phenomenal freshman year taking 17th in the two-mile run. Her time of 11:35 broke her school record from earlier in the year by 12 seconds. Also individually, senior Megan Vento placed 27th in the 55-meter in 7.82 seconds. The girls' 4x400 meter relay easily won their heat and placed 21st overall. Vento teamed with senior classmates Vivian Ramos and Nicole Ruskin and junior Kylie McPherson on the relay. Overall it was a good day as all who competed improved their places from their seeds and it was an accomplishment just getting to compete there. It is the most competitors the girls have ever had at New englands so it was a very successful season.
