Getting to know Mrs. McGee

We’ve decided to interview Mrs. McGee to see what it’s like to take on the new job at Hampden Meadows School. We know that the parents and kids wanted to know more about the new principal and we have your answers.

Q: How is Hampden Meadows different from Colt Andrews?

A: Hampden Meadows has only fourth and fifth grades and one floor. At Colt Andrews there were two buildings, five floors and kids from kindergarten to fifth grade.

Q: Did you want work at HMS or were you asked to?

A: Both, I wanted to work here and then I was asked to be the new principal. I was so excited!

Q: What do you like about being a principal here at HMS?

A: The wonderful kids, parents and staff.

Q: How long have you been a principal?

A: 7 years

Q: Do you have any kids? If so, what are their names and how old are they?

A: A 14 year old girl, her name is Catherine and we call her Catie, also a seventeen year old son, named Matthew.

Q: What is your dream vacation?

A: My dream vacation would be at the Australian beaches.

Q: Was being a principal your lifelong dream?

A: No, I wanted to be a teacher for kids who had difficulty learning. Then someone told me I would make a good principal. I tried it and loved it.

Q: What is your favorite food?

A: My favorite food is stuffed shells. I only get it on my birthday.

Q: What was and is your favorite special subject?

A: My favorite special is definitely art. I love to paint.

Q: What was and is your favorite subject?

A: Reading. I knew that when I read a book I could just disappear in it.

Q: Have you had any other jobs?

A: Photographer, waitress, teacher, lifeguard and swimming instructor.

Q: What do you do in your spare time?

A: I read, walk, do photography, and play with my Yorkshire terrier dog.

Q: Are you thinking of changing anything at HMS? If you are, why?

A: Not yet. I need to see how the school works and when I see anything that needs to be fixed then I will work with the teachers and figure it out.

Q: Do you think you are going to stay at HMS for a while?

A: I hope I can stay here for a very long time.

That’s what Mrs. McGee has to say about Hampden Meadows School!
