Gerald J. Featherstone, 69, Tiverton

Gerald J. “Jerry” Featherstone, 69, of Tiverton, husband of Linda (Camara) Featherstone, died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013.

He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, a 32-year employee of United Parcel Service, and a member of the Knights of Columbus, Tiverton.

Besides his wife of 43 years, he leaves two children, Amy Lester and her husband Clint and Andrew J. Featherstone, all of Tiverton; grandchildren, Ethan Lester and Alexzander Featherstone; a brother, Daniel Featherstone and his wife Pauline of Tiverton, and nieces and nephews. He was the son of the late John and Thelma (Trenholme) Featherstone.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once.
