Garabed Masdanian, 89, East Providence


Garabed Masdanian, 89, of South Blossom Street, East Providence, died peacefully at home on April 6, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Marie (Assadaurian) Masdanian.

He is survived by two sons; Kevork Masdanian and Vartan Masdanian, both of East Providence, two daughters; Loucien Eramain and Asdghik Eramain, both of New York, seven grandchildren and one great grandson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Sts. Varanantz Armenian Apostolic Church, 402 Broadway, Providence on Friday, April 12, at 11 a.m. Calling hours will be held in the church on Friday morning 9-11 a.m. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of the W. A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once.
