PORTSMOUTH — Have any young sharpshooters in the family?
They might want to prove their skills at the Knights of Columbus-sponsored youth basketball free-throw contest on Saturday, Jan. 12.
The event, open to ages 9 to 14, will start at 10 a.m. in the Bradley School gym, 2820 East Main Road (behind St. Anthony’s Church).
The event is typically one hour in duration, with medals awarded to each age group winner. Grand prizes of new basketballs will be awarded to one boy and one girl who make the most free throws.
The Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship is sponsored annually, with winners progressing through local and state competitions. International champions are announced by the K of C international headquarters based on scores from the state-level competitions.
All contestants on the local level are recognized for their participation. Participants are required to furnish proof of age for the competition — age eligibility is determined by the contestant’s age as of Jan. 1, 2019 — and written parental consent. Entry forms can be completed at the time of the event.
