Francis P. Silvia, 84, Westport

Francis P. Silvia, 84, of Westport, died Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, at Charlton Memorial Hospital after a long illness. He was the husband of the late Idalina “Adeline” Silvia.

Born in Portsmouth, RI, son of the late Manuel and Mary (Leandro) Silvia, he moved to Westport after coming out of the service.  A veteran of the Korean War, he served his country in the U.S. Navy.

Prior to retirement in 1990, he served as a firefighter for the Town of Westport for 27 years, retiring as a lieutenant.

Mr. Silvia was a communicant of St. George Church, Westport.  He enjoyed fishing and playing the lottery, but most of all he loved spending time with his family.

Survivors include a daughter, Nancy T. Carter of Westport; two sons, Michael P. Silvia of Westport and Rodney F. Silvia of Westport; four grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by several siblings.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Road, Westport.
