Barrington police charged five teenagers with underage alcohol possession on Wednesday, July 5.

Police officers responded to a beach near the end of Third Street at about 10 p.m. and found the five teens — two boys ages 15 and 16, and three girls ages 14, 15 and 16.

Police said one of the teenagers showed obvious signs of being intoxicated. Officers also located bottles containing a mix of lemonade and alcohol.

Police charged four of the teenagers with possession of an alcoholic beverage-underage persons, and the 15-year-old girl also faces a charge of possession of an alcoholic beverage-underage persons-consumption.

All the teens will be sent to the town's juvenile hearing board.

Unwanted visitors

Also on July 5, a Barrington resident called police at about 7:15 p.m. after spotting suspicious activity at a neighbor's home.

The resident said the homeowner was away on vacation, but she had just seen some teenagers enter the house. Police responded to the Massasoit Avenue home and located four teenagers inside the home — three males and one female.

The teenagers told police that they were friends with the homeowner's son, who had reportedly told them that it was OK for them to hang out in the house until he returned home from work.

Police then called the homeowner, who told police to remove the teenagers from the home. Police dispersed the teens. No one was charged.
