Eugene A. Medeiros, 90, Westport

Eugene A. Medeiros, 70, of Westport, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at home with his family by his side.  He was the son of the late John and Virginia Medeiros.
Born in Fall River, Mr. Medeiros was a resident of Westport for most of his life. Prior to his retirement, he was owner and operator of Gene Medeiros Trucking of Westport. Mr. Medeiros enjoyed working on antique cars and attending various car shows in the area.
Survivors include his daughter, Lisa Medeiros-Barboza, her husband Herman Barboza, Jr. and their daughter Amanda Medeiros of Westport; three brothers, Joseph Medeiros of Nevada, and Arthur Medeiros and Alfred Medeiros, both of Westport; three sister,: Irene Veloza of California, Lucy Flores of California, and Patricia Lundstrom of E.Providence, RI, and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Medeiros was the brother of the late Manuel, John and Raymond Medeiros.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Southcoast Center for Cancer Care, 363 Highland Ave., Fall River, MA, 02720.
Arrangements are under the direction of the POTTER FUNERAL HOME, 81 Reed Rd., Westport.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
