Emma L. Ferreira, 51, of Maple Avenue, died peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Thomas J. Ferreira.

A lifelong resident of Barrington, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Alice M. (Day) Lama.

Mrs. Ferreira was a teacher’s aid for the Barrington School Department at the Nayatt Elementary School for 10 years and Sowams Elementary School for 5 years. She enjoyed spending time with her students.

Emma was a communicant of Holy Angels Church. A sports enthusiast, she was a devoted Boston Red Sox fan and enjoyed camping.

Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, Thomas J. Ferreira Jr. of Barrington; a daughter, Samantha A. Ferreira of Barrington; two sisters, Janice M. Peterson and Cynthia L. Lama, both of Barrington; and several nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held on Thursday, Oct. 4, from the W. Raymond Watson Funeral Home, 350 Willett Ave., Riverside at 8:45 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Angels Church, Maple Avenue, Barrington at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Santa Maria del Campo Cemetery.
