Emily V. (Velleca) DelToro, died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013 at her home in Bristol.

She was the wife of the late Anthony DelToro for 70 years.

She was born at home in Bristol, a daughter of the late Albert and Mary Velleca.

A lifelong resident of Bristol, Emily attended Colt Memorial High School and worked for various companies, including The Outlet Company in Providence and Collins and Aikman in Bristol.

She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and being with family and friends. Emily is survived by her sister, Mary Silvia, formerly of Bristol and her brother, Albert Velleca of Bullard, Texas.

She was the sister of the late Jennie Ferrara, John Velleca and Carl Velleca. She also leaves behind a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service, Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013 at 10 a.m. in the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood St., Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery on Chestnut Street in Bristol.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
