Elsie Parquette, 85, Bristol


Elsie (Moniz) Parquette, 85, of Hawthorne Avenue, Bristol, and formerly of Warren Avenue in East Providence, died Tuesday morning, Feb. 4, 2014, at Silver Creek Manor in Bristol, surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Edmund J. Parquette.

Born Sept. 13, 1928 in Providence, she was a daughter of the late John and Celia (Rebello) Moniz.

She was the mother of Cheryl Jocelyn and her husband Charles of Bristol and of the late Russell E. Parquette; grandmother of Cherie Daniel, Colleen Kiselka and Crystal Ware; and great-grandmother of Evan and Luke Daniel. She was the sister of James Moniz of East Providence, Dolores Costa of Bristol, and of the late John, Arthur, Alfred and Edmund Moniz.

Elsie loved dancing (Yahooing), writing, gardening, trying her luck at the casino and spending time with friends and family. She was the life of the party, and was always known for her sense of humor. Although she is missed, her family and friends were blessed to have her in their lives. Her beautiful smile and amazing personality will forever live in the hearts of her family and friends.

Her funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 7, at Rebello Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Church. Liturgical readings were read by her three granddaughters. The offertory gifts were presented by her sister Dolores Costa and brother James Moniz. Burial followed at hteh Gates of Heaven Cemetery, with a eulogy presented by her granddaughters. Serving as pallbearers were Steve Costa, Ned Grady, Clifford Moniz, Adam Ware, Kevin Kiselka and Eric Daniel.
