Ellen Ford to lead Potter League board


The Potter League has elected a new president and welcomed two new board members who replace two retiring members.

Ellen Ford, CEO of People’s Credit Union, was elected president of the League for a two year term. She has previously served as treasurer of the Potter League.

Other officers elected include Harriet DiCicco as vice-president, Howard Naugle as treasurer, and Patty Spigel as secretary.  Ms. Spigel was also recognized for her outstanding service as president for 2010-2012.

The board also expressed its gratitude to departing members Emlen Drayton and Margo Waite.

"Both Emlen and Margo were unflappable and reliable board members. We thank them for their service," the board said.

The Board approved James Berwind and David Thalmann to serve on the Potter League’s board for a three-year term ending in 2015.

Mr.  Berwind of Philadelphia and Newport also serves on The Humane Society of the United States' National Council.

Mr. Thalmann of Newport is the chief financial Officer of the Aquidneck Land Trust. and worked for many years on Wall Street. Elected for a second term on the League’s board of directors were Marilyn Kanter, Elena Kissel, Patty Spigel and Mary Alice Smith.
