Edward C. Liberatore, 83, Westport

Edward C. “Libby” Liberatore, 83, of Westport died peacefully, Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at Charlton Memorial Hospital with his family by his side.  He was the husband of Gertrude C. (Bernier) Liberatore.
Born in Fall River, son of the late Tobias and Anna (Mariano) Liberatore, he had lived in Westport for most of his life.  A veteran of the Korean War, he served his country in the United States Army.
Prior to retirement, he was a pharmacy technician for the VA Hospital in Brockton.  He was a communicant of St. George Church, Westport.  Mr. Liberatore had a love of music and he played in many bands.  An avid bowler, he also enjoyed playing softball.
Including his wife, survivors include three daughters, Shirley A. Terrell and her husband Steven of New Bedford, Christine M. Palmer and her husband Jeffrey of Westport, and Joanne M. Fernandes and her husband Richard of Pawcatuck, Conn.; a sister, Mary Fitton of Somerset; four grandchildren, Darlene, Amy, Alex and Benjamin; six great grandchildren, Tyler, Claudia, Aleyna, Ava, Anthony and Knox; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Henry Liberatore.
