Edna Massengale Neill, 92, Newnan, Ga.


Edna Massengale Neill, 92, of Newnan, Ga., died Wednesday, July 3, 2013.

She was born Sept. 6, 1920 in Fayette County, Ga. to the late Berry Edward and Maggie Mae Banks Massengale.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Merrill “Bud” Neill; two brothers, Hinton Massengale and Wayne Massengale; a granddaughter, Gina Michele Freeman; and son-in-law, Terry Freeman.

Mrs. Neill was a member of Freeman Memorial Methodist Church. She worked at The James River Corp. prior to her retirement.

She leaves her son, Joel Neill and his wife Carolyn; a daughter, Brenda Freeman; grandchildren Scott Neill, Steve Neill and wife Carol, Jo Anna Flinn and husband Gary; her great-grandchildren, Matthew Flinn, Mallory Neill and Stevie Neill. Also surviving are her sister, Molly Connor of Warren, and numerous nieces and nephews in Warren.

Funeral arrangements are by McKoon Funeral Home in Newnan. A graveside service was Sunday, July 7, in Oak Hill Cemetery, with Reverend Jim Hearn officiating.
