East Providence’s Olivia Dufresne stars as Annie

The Community Players open their 97th season with the Tony Award-winning musical, Annie! Based on the timeless comic strip, "Little Orphan Annie", this delightful musical celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. With songs like Tomorrow, It's a Hard Knock Life, Maybe and NYC you'll be sure to leave the theatre with a song in your heart. The production stars East Providence's Olivia Dufresne, daughter of Nicole and Bruce Dufresne. A student at St. Mary's Bay View Academy, she brings the perfect spirit of spunk and determination to the role. East Providence's Ron Procopio provides the musical direction of the show.


WHERE: Jenks Auditorium, 350 Division St., Pawtucket
WHEN: Nov. 10-19; Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m., with a 2 p.m. matinee on Saturday, Nov. 18

Meet our staff
Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
