East Providence Ward 4 City Committee denies write-in involvement

EAST PROVIDENCE — East Providence Ward 4 City Committee Chairman Charlene Damiani denied any prior knowledge of a proposed write-in effort backing Robert "Bob" Gagnon for the City Council seat in Riverside.

The East Providence Post and eastbayri.com reported earlier of a grass-roots movement taking place Election Day in support of Mr. Gagnon to oppose the only announced candidate in the race, current School Committee member Chrissy Rossi. It should be noted Mr. Gagnon is the Vice Chairman of the Ward 4 City Committee.

"The Ward 4 City Committee had not heard about this prior to today. We take no credit for the write-in candidate, nor do we take any blame. We had no knowledge of it," Mrs. Damiani said earlier Tuesday.
