East Providence Police identify suspect in Bliss Street stabbing

EAST PROVIDENCE — Ray L. Luna was identified as the suspect in a stabbing incident Sunday morning, Jan. 14, on Bliss Street in city, according to East Providence Police Detective Captain Richard Frazier.

Capt. Frazier said Mr. Luna, 22 and of Providence, is being charged with one count of Assault with a Deadly Weapon/Knife for his involvement in an altercation at a house party on Bliss Street near Brightridge Avenue.  Mr. Luna is currently being held at the Adult Correctional Institution in Cranston as a violator. He was scheduled to be arraigned in Sixth District Court on the weapons charge Wednesday, Jan. 16.

As was the circumstance Sunday, Capt. Frazier declined to release the name of the victim in the incident, a 21-year-old Providence man. He was taken to Rhode Island Hospital with a wound to the abdomen. The injuries were non-life threatening. He was treated and has been released, according to Capt. Frazier.
