EAST PROVIDENCE — The East Providence Police Department were alerted to a body found floating the upper reaches of Narragansett Bay early Sunday morning, Dec. 8.

According to a report on the Providence Journal website, EPPD Lieutenant Raymond Blinn said a walker on the East Bay Bike Path near the Squantum Association property discovered the body at approximately 8:30 a.m.

Lt. Blinn was quoted in the piece as saying the body of a male "appeared to have been in the water for some time."

"There's nothing at this point that screams suspicious," other than that the body was found in the water, Lt. Blinn added.

The case is being investigated by EPPD detectives. The remains were taken by the state medical examiner's office for an autopsy.
