East Providence High girls' soccer club falls in season finale

WOONSOCKET — The 2013 season came to end for the East Providence High School girls' soccer team Thursday afternoon, Oct. 24, with a road loss to Mount St. Charles, 5-3, in a Division II encounter.

Freshman Julia Andrade scored twice for the Townies while sophomore Kyra Ribeiro accounted for the other tally. Dakotah Federowicz and Erica Dias each had assists. Devon Federowicz was credited with 12 saves in the E.P. net.

The Townies, who won their first two games of the fall 1-0 over Cranston East and 4-2 over Johnston, picked up just one point over their final 12 games, a scoreless draw against Tiverton back on Oct. 1. E.P. wound up with a 2-11-1 record in the league standings.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once.
