East Providence fireworks are postponed once again

EAST PROVIDENCE (Updated) — Concerns over high winds covering the area, the remnants Hurricane Arthur, led city officials to once again postpone the East Providence Fourth of July fireworks display scheduled for Pierce Memorial Stadium.

The show, originally slated for July 3 then delayed to July 5, has now been rescheduled for Sunday evening, July 6, at 6 p.m. Food and beverage concessions will be available. Music performances by Crushed Velvet and Kicking Hole remain on the docket. The event is free and open to the public.

In addition to any potential weather concerns, similar postponements of other fireworks shows across the area has led to a backlog of displays. According to East Providence Police, the company conducting the city's display does not have enough personnel to conduct the show at Pierce as of Saturday night.
