East Providence EMA issues Thursday night update


EAST PROVIDENCE — The East Providence Emergency Management Agency  issued the following update Thursday night as it continues to prepare for the arrival of expected blizzard-like conditions from Nor'easter Nemo on Friday, Feb. 8.

  • Motorists are advised that the afternoon commute will be poor, and should stay off of the roads tomorrow night and early Saturday.
  • East Providence Schools are closed Friday, and a parking ban goes into effect at noon on Friday.
  • Storm operations will continue as long necessary during the weekend to clear out streets and get back to business as usual.

  • Information for East Providence is very frequently updated on the city’s website, www.eastprovidenceri.net.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once.
