East Providence City Council, School Committee set first meetings of New Year

Posted

EAST PROVIDENCE — New Year's Day having fallen on the first Tuesday of January, the East Providence City Council and School Committee needed to shuffle the dates of their initial meetings to begin 2013.

The Council, which would have met this past Tuesday under normal circumstances, moved its first meeting of the year to Jan. 8 with executive session at 7 p.m. followed by the open session at 7:30.

The second Council meeting of the month, therefore, will follow in two weeks on Jan. 22. The Council then returns to its usual first and third Tuesday monthly meeting schedule on Feb. 5.

The School Committee would have normally met on what is the second Tuesday of the month, but because of the conflict is now slated to hold its meeting Thursday night, Jan. 10, likely beginning with executive session at 6:30 p.m. and the open session at 7. The School Committee returns to its second Tuesday rotation in February (Feb. 12).

Both meetings take place in their usual City Hall Chambers setting.
