EAST PROVIDENCE — Shaniah Hazard earned the top accolades among the East Providence High School basketball contingent this winter, chosen by the league coaches as a member of both the All-Division II and All-Division II-North first teams.

A senior guard, Hazard was the Townies’ third leading scorer at around 12 points per game in helping East Providence finish with a 14-4 regular season record and as the fourth seed in the Division II girls’ playoffs.

Courtney Dorr, who led EPHS in scoring at about 16 ppg, was selected second team All-North and third team All-D-II. Lilian Conti, second in scoring for the Townies at just over 12 ppg, was chosen third team All-North and honorable mention All-Division. Forward Emma DaSilva received II-North honorable mention notice.

Of note as well locally, city resident and Wheeler School career points leader Anna Metcalf, like Hazard, was tabbed for spots on both the II-North and D-II first teams. Metcalf averaged 16.8 points per game for the Warriors as they finished as the third seed in the league playoffs in their first winter playing at the D-II level.

On the boys’ side, senior wing Deyshawn Tengbeh was selected by the coaches as a member of the All-Division I-Central first team and second team All-D-I. Tengbeh paced the locals in scoring at 17.6 ppg while helping the Townies finish .500 at 9-9 and qualify for the league playoffs.

Junior point guard Dion Hazard was the other male Townie to earn recognition, earning second team I-Central notice after leading the team in assists while adding 14.8 ppg.
