EAST PROVIDENCE — The East Providence Police Department has arrested the suspect in a stabbing incident earlier in the day, August 16.
Kermit Fleming, 48, of 60 Evergreen Drive, was taken into custody on a charge of Assault with the Intent to Murder, according to a report of EPPD Detective Lieutenant Ray Blinn.
At approximately 5:30 p.m. Thursday, the East Providence Police started receiving 911 calls for a possible stabbing at 80 Evergreen Drive. Upon arrival, officers located one adult male outside the residence, who appeared to have multiple stab wounds to his torso.
The male reported that he had been stabbed by another male who he and witnesses identified as Mr. Fleming.
Additional patrol units that were responding to the area, were directed by the 911 caller to Mr. Fleming’s location as he had fled the scene. Officers located Fleming on Evergreen Drive and was taken into the custody.
At this time that this incident was the result of an argument over a mutual female friend.
The victim remains at Rhode Island Hospital in stable condition.
