East Providence Animal Control Pet of the Week: Red

EAST PROVIDENCE — Red (or as we sometimes affectionately refer to him, 'Big Red') is a gorgeous orange and white tiger domestic medium hair available for adoption at the East Providence Animal Control Center.

While Red was being neutered and vaccinated, the veterinarian noted he had previously sustained a leg fracture that healed crooked, but is stable. He is a little shy at first but is a very affectionate kitty. He loves one on one attention and would probably do well in home with other felines. He is a little underweight so staff is providing him with wet food to give him the extra calories, and hopefully help him add on some pounds.

If you are looking for a loving companion, Red is the perfect kitty for you. You may visit Red at our facility located at 62 Commercial Way. East Providence Animal Control Center is open everyday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. We also have other animals available for adoption listed on Facebook or Petfinder.com.

If you have any questions about adoption or need to speak with an Animal Control Officer regarding other issues, you may contact the staff at (401) 435-7675.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
