East Bay Warriors win again, advance to NE semis

The East Bay Warriors Junior Midgets defeated the Concord City Vipers this Sunday, Nov. 13, in the first round of the New England Pop Warner Regional Championships, 20-12. Though they trailed for much of the game, the Midgets pulled off a thrilling come-from-behind victory.

The Warriors found themselves down 6-0 at the half and 12-0 to start the fourth quarter. That's when they went to work. Ryan Ramos hooked up Val Aiello on a 34-yard touchdown strike. Ramos added the extra point and the Warriors were down 12-8. On the ensuing kickoff Matt Ditondo forced a Viper fumble and Ashton Begin recovered the loose ball. A few plays later, Ramos hit Jeff Silvia on a 20-yard pass that put the Warriors on the one yard line. A play later, Ramos ran it in and gave the Warriors a 14-12 lead.

On the Vipers' next possession, the opportunistic defense struck again with another fumble recovery as Devin Lancaster pounced on another loose ball. A few plays later the Warriors scored again on another one-yard run by Ramos. The Warrior defense would again prove to be tough enough as it forced its fifth Concord turn over of the game to ice away a hard-fought victory.

East Bay's victory was a combination of a great team effort and all players deserve the credit, the coach said. Other team members include Neil Thibaudeau, Caden Cabral, Zack Francis, Keith Stephenson, DJ Machado, Jake Ribeiro, Nick Finney, Trevor Arruda, Zack Sullivan, Anthony Reed, Andrew Prendergast, Ty Couto, Tyler Rego, Connor McKenna, Caleb Harrington, Jacob Sarza, Damien Mendoza, and Rick James.

The Warriors travel to Gill Stadium in Manchester, NH this coming Saturday for the New England Regional Semi-Finals.
