Dog bites Barrington school crossing guard in the face
A dog previously thought to be friendly acted anything but with a Nayatt School crossing guard on Friday, May 3.
According to police, the station received a phone call at about 9 a.m. on May 3, alerting officers to the situation. The caller told police that the crossing guard, a 54-year-old man, bent over to pet the dog when the animal jumped up at him and bit him near his eye.
The man, who was taken to the Nayatt School nurse’s office, said he had pet the dog before and never had any problem with it; he said it was a friendly dog.
Officers could see two red marks near the crossing guard’s eye, although the bite did not break the skin. The dog was reportedly on leash during the incident.
The case was referred to the animal control officer.
