Debra A. LaMarr, 57, Westport


Debra A. (Wayne) LaMarr, 57, of Westport, passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2013, at home. She was the wife of David W. Courtemanche.

Born in Mineola, NY, and daughter of the late Joseph and Jean (Szpunar) Wayne, she had lived in Dartmouth prior to moving to Westport in 2006. Mrs. LaMarr enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors along with her husband include her son Donald J. LaMarr and his wife Heather of Connecticut; her daughter, Danielle J. Valton and her husband Thomas of Westport; her brother, John Wayne of Florida; her sister, Victoria Brooks of California; her beloved aunt Stacia Pacheco of Westport; her uncle Matthew Szpunar; five grandchildren, Victoria, Allison, Jack, Addison and Isabelle; her former husband, Donald R. LaMarr Jr.; and several nieces and nephews.

Her memorial service, to which relatives and friends are invited, will be Friday, July 5, at 11 a.m.. at the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Road, Westport. Memorial visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service.

Interment will be private.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
