Colette Burke, 84, Fall River

Colette Burke, 84, of Fall River, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012, at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Arthur E. Burke Jr.
Born in Fall River, the daughter of the late Napoleon and Helen (Cullen) Chevalier, she was a homemaker. She lived in Warren for many years, where she was a member of St. Mary of the Bay Church and the Rosary and Altar Society, the Warren Garden Club, Touisset Point Community Club and the Women’s Auxiliary of WFD, Engine 6. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her, especially her dear friends the Conley family, the Rogers family, Ruth Sullivan, and her niece and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial was held Tuesday, Oct. 16, in St. Mary of the Bay Church, Main Street. Burial followed in St. Mary of the Bay Cemetery.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
