Coast Guard search comes up empty

Posted

PRUDENCE ISLAND — A Coast Guard helicopter from Cape Cod and a 45-foot response boat from Castle Hill searched the bay's East Passage off Prudence Island's Sandy Point late Monday night for a possible boat adrift but found nothing.

A spokeswoman for the Coast Guard's First District in Boston said that the Coast Guard had received a report of an empty or abandoned boat approximately 10 feet long.

The helicopter and patrol boat were dispatched and searched the waters between Prudence and Portsmouth with lights for the better part of an hour at around 11 p.m. but found nothing. Because there were no missing persons reports, the search was eventually suspended.
