Clara C. Pontes, 90, Little Compton

Clara C. Pontes, 90, of Little Compton, died Monday, Jan.14, 2013, at St. Anne’s Hospital, Fall River. She was the wife of the late Joseph Pontes.

Born in Little Compton, a daughter of the late Antonio and Hortense (Carreiro) Pinheiro, she was a lifelong resident of Little Compton. She graduated from Josephine Wilbur High School and was a former organist at St. Catherine of Siena Church.

Mrs. Pontes retired from the Rhode Island School Lunch Program after 26 years.

She leaves two sons, Fulton J Pontes of Portsmouth, and Daniel C. Pontes of Little Compton; and one grandson.

Her funeral will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m., from the Fern Acres Funeral Home, 72 Willow Ave, Little Compton, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Catherine of Siena Church on the Commons. Visiting hours are Saturday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will take place in Our Lady Fatima Cemetery, Little Compton.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory to St. Catherine of Siena Church, Little Compton, would be welcome.
