Charles J. Malone, 89, East Providence

Charles J. Malone, 89 and of East Providence, passed away November 1, 2013. He was the husband of the late Sally (Hash) Malone.  Born in Bristol he was the son of the late Thomas and Angelina (Gonsalves) Malone.

Charles was a service manager for Adams Automotive for 25 years, a school bus driver for East Providence School Department, he was also a U.S. Navy Veteran serving in WWII and the Korean War, and a avid motorcycle rider for the past 15 years.

He is survived by his daughter Charlene Szczepanek and her husband Wayne of Nevada, one brother Albert of Xavier, Tenn., one sister Irene Armillotto of Bristol and companion Hilda Dewey of Riverside.

A funeral for Charles will held on Nov. 6 at 10 a.m. in St. Martha’s Church, 2595 Pawtucket Ave. Burial will be in R.I. Veterans Cemetery. Visit smithmason.com for online condolences.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far.
