Carol A. (Gomes) Perry, 70, of Smith St., Bristol, passed away Sunday, February 10, 2013 at home after a long courageous battle with cancer.  Born in Pawtucket, she was the youngest of nine children from the late Manuel and Gabriella (Andre) Gomes.  She resided in Bristol for most of her life and loved to spend weekends at their vacation home in N.H. Her favorite place was in the kitchen where she loved to cook and bake. She believed "being happy doesn't mean everything is perfect. It means you've decided to see beyond the imperfections."

She leaves behind her husband John Perry of 50 years, her son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Kate Perry of Minot, Maine., her son, Shawn Perry of Warren and her son, Scott Perry of Bristol, and her grandchildren Cody and Nicole Perry. She also leaves behind her brother, Joe Gomes of Bristol, sisters, Fern DeAndrade of Pawtucket, Marie Baldasari of Calif., Alice Fournier of Flor., Dottie Talik of Mich. and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three grandchildren, Cooper, Logan and Katie Perry, two sisters, Rose Calhoun and Pat Sylvester and a brother Mario Gomes.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 10 a.m. in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 500 Metacom Ave., Warren.  Burial will be private. Visiting hours are Friday 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood St., Bristol.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation of Massachusetts and Rhode Island, 20 Hemingway Drive, East Providence, RI 02915 or online at www.massri.wish.org. A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986.
